Jorge Mario Bergoglio from Argentina emerges new Pope

Jorge Mario Bergoglio has been announced as Pope Benedict’s successor.
Earlier this evening, white smoke billowed from the Sistine Chapel chimney, an indication that a new pope has been chosen.
Cardinal Jean-Louis Pierre Tauran appeared after an anxious delay to announce the Argentine, as the next pope.
According to Wikipedia, “Jorge Mario Bergoglio SJ is an Argentine cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He is the current Archbishop of Buenos Aires, serving since 1998. He was elevated to the cardinalate in 2001.”
The Catholic News Service reports he has chosen the name Pope Francis I.
