50 Feared Dead As Tree Collapses In Imo State

There are reports that over 50 persons might have been killed following the uprooting of a massive tree at Umudagu Mbieri, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State during a raging windstorm which occurred last night.

The heavy down pour accompanied by heavy wind was said to have brought down the tree about 8 p.m on Thursday.

The tree reportedly fell on top of houses crushing their occupants to death in a night storm. The area is densely populated with a market mostly patronised by villagers and folks from neighbouring communities.
